The last race weekend of the season at the Hockenheimring

The last race weekend of the season at the Hockenheimring

The final race weekend at the Hockenheimring was action-packed from the start as the second race from the Redbullring was moved to Friday and took place right after free practice. Unfortunately, I had a problem with the differential in practice and could only do one full lap, but it still meant that I had fresher tires for the race and since everyone was saving tires for the additional race, I didn't lose much. In the race, I was more careful at the beginning and I didn't push the car so much since I slowly built-up pace and didn't want to make a mistake. I was also lucky to avoid my opponent in the first lap, who braked and shot down two cars in front of me, which made my way forward easier. After that I drove a steady pace and towards the end, I benefited the most from the slow start of the race where I got to third place in the last lap and got my second podium in the M2 CUP.

In qualifying, I took seventh place in the first race and fourth place in the second race. The first race, on the contrary, was very hectic immediately after the start and I fought in a group, and in the end, it was sixth place. In Sunday's race, there was a big incident immediately after the start on the brakes to Spitzkehr, where two rivals braked, with one narrowly missing me on the left on the grass and the other flying right in front of my hood and bringing down the car in front of me hard. This incident was followed by a long safety car and after the restart I didn't feel as good about the car as I did in the Friday or Saturday race and at the finish it was fifth place. As a result, I finished in sixth place overall and as the third junior.

In the end, I can say that this season, where a lot of things changed for me and I managed to find an engagement in the BMW M2 Cup at the last minute, moved me forward both as a rider and personally. Even though I didn't always sit down with M2 and I know that at certain moments I could have had better results, I really enjoyed this season and I'm already looking forward to 2023.
